Someone's Special Day!!

Hello everyone and welcome back! Today I'm going to do something new, or at lest I think it's new. It may be surprising too some of you out there but this month we had two very special people who had birthday's. Kal-El and Bruce Wayne! And in light of that I will be doing a post dedicated to these two fine dudes.

What the heck Marrok? are you really doing a post about two FICTIONAL CHARACTERS BIRTHDAY'S? Like really? this isn't some prank?

Oh it's not a prank. Bruce Wayne (a.k.a Batman)  had his birthday on the 19th of this month while Kal-El (a.k.a Superman) has his on the 29th (yes he was born on a leap year but apparently krypton doesn't have those).

That sounds super dorky.

Yeah, but its an excuse for me to write a nerdy/geeky/dorky post about some of my favorite heroes. And since this is my first nerdy post I think it's excusable...what was that Chuck?... I already did a nerdy post?...When...Oh that post...No you can't have a raise...You don't need that...Whatever to you too Chuck. Okay so Chuck tells I already did a nerdy post that you can find HERE. But I think it would be okay to do another.

SPOTLIGHT: Batman!
(yeah I know he doesn't like it but whatever)

Over the years Batman has taken on different looks in the movies...

and cartoons...

and in the comics (not going to show the comic ones because there are literally hundreds of batman suits in the comics). But for the most part he has stayed pretty intact. He is still a guy who can stop criminals just by looking at them. Some of the things I like most about him are.

1) He is always thinking ahead, like a master chess player.
2) He likes to looks big and scary but is genuinely a nice hombre
(when he is not beating people up, hitting them with bat-a-rangs, hitting them with the bat mobile, interrogating them... lets leave it at nice hombre)
3) He has a soft stop for kids without parents or just kids who have it ruff.

Some of my favorite batman comics are...

Batman Hush:
There is a new villain calling for the blood of the Bat, but what makes him such a threat is he seems to know Batman's every move. How will it when a childhood friend turns enemy?

Batman: Under the Red Hood:
Batman is confronted with a hidden face from the past — it’s the return of the vigilante Red Hood who appears to be Batman’s one-time partner Jason Todd, the same Jason Todd that died many years ago. But the Red Hood’s violent ways pit him against the Dark Knight in his hunt for the very person responsible for his death: The Joker.

Okay for those of you who like super emotional stuff this comic is it. Super emotional ending.

Batman the Court of Owls:
After a series of brutal murders rocks Gotham City, Batman begins to realize that perhaps these crimes go far deeper than appearances suggest. As the Caped Crusader begins to unravel this deadly mystery, he discovers a conspiracy going back to his youth and beyond to the origins of the city he's sworn to protect. Could the Court of Owls, once thought to be nothing more than an urban legend, be behind the crime and corruption? Or is Bruce Wayne losing his grip on sanity and falling prey to the pressures of his war on crime?
Well that all the time we have for Batman, On to the next birthday boy!

SPOTLIGHT: Superman!
(unlike Batman, its a good thing for Sup-y)

Like Batman, over the years Superman has had his look changed a little (not by much though). From the movies...

to comics...what is it now Chuck?...Who cares if your fav is the 1993 Mullet Superman... I'm trying to write a post here... yeah just go do something!...

But no real change in the cartoons. And like Batman, Superman (for the most part anyways) has stayed the same (Sometimes they really mess him up though). A nice guy who doesn't want to see people get hurt. He is the guy who can bench press the earth but is still nice enough to help a little girl crying because her ice cream fell and she's lost. He is just a county boy at heart dispute his super powers. Some of the things I like most about Superman are.

1) He genially cares for his adopted parents and people in general.
2) He never uses the full extent of his power to win a fight.
3) In those times where he does use more of his power its fun to watch!

Some of my favorite comics are...

The Death Of Superman:
Can even Superman stop the unstoppable creature called Doomsday? If the assembled might of the JLA can't do it, what hope does he have? One thing is for use, he will fight it even if it kills him.

Superman Earth One:
I've actually already posted reviews of two of them. you can see them by clicking HERE.

Superman Unchained New 52:
Decades before the Last Son of Krypton became Earth's champion, another being of incredible power fell from the sky. His role in humanity's deadliest conflict became America's darkest secret.
Now the secret is out. And this super soldier has been unchained once more.
The Man of Steel. His arch-enemy, Lex Luthor. His close confidant, Lois Lane. Her ruthless father, General Sam Lane. Techno-terrorists with a shocking link to the past. All of them will vie for control of this hidden engine of destruction.
And when the smoke clears, only the real superman will survive

Well that is all the time we have for Superman. If your a fan of the Boy in Blue, or the Bat, let me know in the comments why you like him. If you don't let me know why. It's fun to see others perspectives on superheroes like Batman and Superman. Also let me know if you like this kind of character spotlight/birthday post/geeky post, I would be willing to do more of these kinds of post if you do like them. There are a lot of other characters out there besides Batman and Superman after all :P Also if you have a favorite movie/cartoon adaptation of Superman/Batman let me know that one too!

Until Next Time, Stay True to the King!

  1. Hmm...this post reminds me that I haven't watched Man of Steel since it came out and I haven't even seen Batman Vs Superman yet. #Marvelfan I'd have to say I like batman best though, as his character is more complex and he's just SO COOL.

This was a super fun post!

    1. Thanks Audrey (love the play on words there)! question what does #Marvelfan have to do with batman being the best :P don't get me wrong he is a cool hombre but I just don't get the marvel part since Batman is DC. Unless it was a joke or something.

OOOoooo two of my favorite movies! I feel like I should warn you that BvS is made more of the comic fan whose kept up with the older comics of DC then a marvel movie which is more for a average movie goer. But it was a fun prequel to Justice League!
