Okay, but what is Song of the Sword?

Synopsis time. Chuck!! Queue the magical wizard voice!!

Song of the Sword

A glittering sword.

An ancient oath.

A blackened rose.

And a melody which ties it all together.

When Evrard and Roinette, twins separated at birth, are overtaken by events swirling from centuries past, they are forced into a battle beyond their own limited powers. With their ability to walk in the melody realm, catching glimpses of the light and darkness underlying Aslaria, comes even more danger.

Deadly mistbenders. Writhing walls of blankness. Hateful drumbeats. As a warrior in the Melody, Evrard has seen it all. But his own ability in the melody realm pales in comparison to the Prince’s melody, the legendary prowess of past Wingmasters, and even the depth of his sister’s song.

To rescue Roinette
and evade the trap almost certainly set for him by those who want his power, Evrard knows he’ll have to be careful. Even if he can find the Wingmaster’s sword, there’s no assurance he’ll be able to defeat a mistbender on his own. And, in the end, will his and Roinette’s efforts matter if the Prince brings an ancient oath to fulfillment, shaking the very foundation of Aslaria?

But that's not all! Just check out this cool graphic, it explains everything.

Book Review: INVASION

Hello and welcome to my first book review. Today I will be reviewing Jon S. Lewis’s book titled Invasion a C.H.A.O.S Novel.

OOOOooo sounds cool, what’s it about?

I’m glad you asked, let me explain…
If you explain the whole book there won't be any need for me to check it out myself, Plus it will be major spoilers
Okay then let me sum up by giving you the synopsis:

He didn't ask to be a hero, but now all that stands between us and chaos . . . is Colt.

Colt McAlister was having the summer of his life. He spent his days surfing and his nights playing guitar on the beach with friends. He even met a girl and got his first car. But everything changes when his parents are killed in a freak accident. He's forced to leave his old life behind and move to Arizona with his grandfather. The only person he knows at the new high school is a childhood friend named Dani. And Oz, a guy he's sure he's never met but who is strangely familiar. But what if his parents' death wasn't an accident? His mother, an investigative reporter, was going to expose a big company. But was killed before she could release the story, what if agents from the Trident Biotech company made sure she couldn't go public? Vowing to uncover truth, Colt is drawn into a secret world of aliens, shape-shifters, flying motorcycles, and invisible getaways.

The invasion has begun.

I give Invasion   Badger claws

So why do I like it? Well it has a superhero feel to it. The book is kind of like a comic origin story. So we are introduced to this rad dude from Cali who ends up in a military training school with aliens for classmates. Thought I should mention that the military training school doesn’t happen until the second book. I personally like the alien/superhero feel the book has. With worlds unseen by us that are host to powerful aliens. I guess it kind of reminds me of superman (big fan of the Super’s). The author of the books is also a comic geek like me so it was fun seeing him pay homage to his favorite heroes and his favorite comics (some of which I have read). There are some flails/negatives in the story. At times the main character, Colt, can be annoying sometimes as he often jumps on to the poor little him train and rides it for a few chapters then gets off then back on it. I mean yea I get is Parents just died but sometimes it annoys me just a little. Also the story builds to a climax that is over just a little too quickly. And at the end you feel like "and that's it?". It is a YA story so that may be the reason for the very quick and rather unsatisfying ending (though I am not saying all YA books are like that). Other than that it’s a pretty fine read for anyone looking for a quick sci-fi novel. Oh I may have forgot to mention that it is a ‘Christian’ novel but the only thing remotely ‘Christian’ about them is like one verse that is mentioned out of context (which annoys me a little) and is therefore not really seen (by me at lest) as a 'Christian novel'.

Guess what, they are back!

Hey everyone and welcome to a new post!

Marrok, it’s not even Thor’s-day. What’s up with the post?

Well, this is a very unexpected post. But the news was so cool I just had to share it with y'all. Yesterday we (DC fans) got some long awaited news.

Well what is it?

Warner Bros. has officially confirmed Young Justice Season 3!

What is Young Justice? And why do you care for season 3?

Well, YJ is one of the most AWESOME superhero shows ever made!!!

Okay, let me give you some background:

Young Justice was a cartoon that aired on Cartoon Network from 2011 to 2013 (has it really been three years?!). It followed the adventures (and... altercations) of the DC's main superhero sidekicks (like Batman, Flash, Aquaman and others); becoming a team and going on black-opt like mission (does that not sound cool already?).  The show had two seasons and was adored by fans. The cast of characters is diverse enough anyone could find a hero/heroin they liked while not having an overly big cast. In the first season we see the formation of the main team:

Superboy (clone of Superman).

Robin (Batman's sidekick).

 Kid Flash (The Flash's sidekick)

 Aqualad (Aquaman's sidekick).

Miss Martian (Martian Manhunter niece).

 Artemis (Green Arrow's sidekick).

Season one centers around the struggles of the new team (both on the field and off it). While season two (titled Invasion)...
deals with the team becoming more of a heavy hitter like their mentors The Justice League, while still introducing new lovable characters .

4 Badger claws

Young Justice has one of the tightest plots of any superhero cartoon. The art style is amazing, a hybrid of both western and eastern art styles. Although I love the character roster, Young Justice isn’t a totally flawless show. There were a few episodes that had some things I didn’t agree with, and two I didn’t watch altogether (ep.7 Denial, ep.18 Secrets,).  So let me hit you with the negatives about Young Justice.

There is magic/spell casting. We see this from the villains and heroes (only two heroes though, Dr. Fate and Zatanna). There is a rude reference made by Kid Flash in episode 5 (Schooled). I don’t know if you see this as a negative (I see it as cool though) but there is some violence (but nothing that passes a PG rating). Sometimes members of the YJ team are short with their fellow team-mates. Sometimes there is a little tension between some of the team members that are dating (but that part isn’t really seen until season 2). One of the female character’s top is a little low (i.e Black Canary, and Cheshire has a short skirt thing. But they are not seen that often). Superboy and Miss Martian are seen kissing a few times. And that about sums up the negatives.

There is team-building as the members learn to trust and protect each other.  The team operates more or less like a family. Although secrets are kept at times, they do come to light and the team helps that member. There are episodes just for particular characters where they grow as a character. Great story telling. The black-opt parts are done well, while still letting the hero’s use their powers. None of the team members are overpowered. The action scenes are nicely done!

Some of the other reasons I like Young Justice is because they introduce new characters that haven’t been seen on screen before. Characters like Superboy (one of my favorites), a new Aqualad (who has become one of my favorites), Blue Beetle (another favorite),  Long Shadow (okay he was a side character in Season 2, but hey he was still there). Wonder Girl (season 2), Miss Martian, Artemis, Impulse (season 2). But they also had familiar characters that have been around for ages, or have had their own TV time, like Robin, Kid Flash, Nightwing, Batgirl (season2), Beast Boy, Static Shock, Speedy/Red Arrow/Arsenal. And the show had a way of leaving views waning more.
I remember waiting all week for them to come out. And when the episode ended this would be me.
They also ended the show (and season) in such a cliff hanger!

Wow this post is getting long maybe I should end it… anyways those are a few of the reasons I loved Young Justice and I’m stoked for season 3. Unfortunately... there isn't much news on it yet. We are still in the dark about a lot of things, but I would definitely suggest the first 2 seasons to anyone. If you like superheroes give Young Justice a try, you may end up liking it just as much as me!

Anyways that’s it for this post. Till next time, Stay True to the King! Oh and check out the Angry Badger this Thor’s-day, there will be a new Movie review up.

Comments; have you seen Young Justice? If so who was your favorite? If not what do you think of it?

Q & A Blog Tag

Hey everyone and welcome back to a new post. I was recently tagged by Rae -Thanks by the way Rae!- for this thing and thought I would make this my second blog post
another Q&A really? Didn’t you just do like 3 Q&A’s?
Yes, yes I did. But hey might as well do another
Oh boy, here we go again.
Cool! love the optimism!
I was being sarcastic.
Oh...well...Okay let’s get into this Q&A tag

1)  What is your favorite Season?

Winter by far is my go to season! I love the cold feeling winter brings.

2)   What is your favorite hot drink?

I’m a tea guy. So Tea! now I can’t choose which tea is my favorite but I love to try new flavors.

3)  Do you have a favorite author? (Or top 3)

Let’s see. I like the way Jon S. Lewis writers (author of the C.A.H.O.S Novel) Geoff Johns is a pretty good author of comics :) and last but not lest. The man, the legend,

                                      Stan Lee!
(Creator of some of my favorite heroes!)

4)  If you’re a writer, what is your favorite part of the process?

Hummmm… maybe the editing part. I love ripping apart sections and making them sound better than they were.

5)  Would you rather read the book or watch the movie?

Watch a movie. Don’t get me wrong books are great and I like to read, but if I have to chose between the book or the movie I will chose the movie. The reasons behind that is that
1) the movie is often shorter so I can finish it faster.
2) it offers a different view then the book.

   6) If you can have any pet in the world – what would you choose?

A Shark, Wolf, or Dragon. Or maybe an Angry Badger (haha shameless pug!)

7)  Are you an outside person or an inside person?

Definitely an outside person.

8)  Do you have a favorite music band/group/singer?

No I don’t. I like a lot of different bands like Group 1 Crew, NF, Red, Skillet, Toby Mac, Shonlock, Press Pay, Jeremy Camp… yea the list is long so I'll stop here.

9)  Favorite online media site (Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)?

Not really, I mean they are nice but I can’t say I have a favorite one.

10)What are you currently reading?

Samara’s Peril by Jaye L. Knight

Questions for people I tag:

1.   What is your favorite movie?

2.   What is your favorite animated movie?

3.   Do you have a favorite art style?

4.   Favorite random grif

5.   A place (real or imaginary) that you want to visit

6.   Scotland or Norway and why?

7.   What is your favorite element?

8.   Best riddle you have ever heard

9.   Best joke you ever said/heard.

10.  Favorite fictional hero?
Now part of this Tag thing is that I'm supposed to 'tag' ten other people. But I'm going to level with you... I don't know enough people in the blogging world to tag Ten others. That is why I'm so grateful that you happened by.
because you must certainly know people right?
Well yes I do, I'm a totally awesome person I know people!
Good that means you can tag a random person with this tag.
I don't know..
it's just like High 5-ing your friends face! quick and mostly painless.
well... wait what?! their face???
Yea! You know what never mind that part. But I leave this tag open to you my readers. If you want to know more about some blogger just tag them with this.
Okay I'll think about it.
Cool. Till next time, stay true to the King! Marrok out!

Let me know in the Comments below if you know (or don't know) who Stan Lee is.
